I was plonked onto a piano stool from a very early age, and it's really gone downhill from there... There was always music in our house as far back as I can remember, either on the radio, records; or my parents and brothers practicing or playing various instruments. All the music I heard from my early years was classical, and it wasn't until I started listening to Nicky Horne's rock show, 'Your Mother Wouldn't Like It' on Capital Radio, and heard the live broadcast of Genesis playing at Earls Court in the late 70's that I realised that my musical destiny would definitely be prog flavoured ! In fact the first proper album I bought was Supper's Ready by Genesis. Assuming you ignore a brief dalliance with Abba's Arrival that is... I was young, and didn't know any better.
It wasn't until the late 80s that I started playing keyboards in bands. It was in one of these that I met Huw Lloyd-Jones, and we soon went off to form various music-making groups, one of which would end up years later as the latest incarnation of Also Eden that we know and love today.
Various keyboards, of which my favourite are made by Kurzweil and Nord. In the studio I am a big fan of Cubase 5 on Mac and PC, although I'm also very happy to be learning the ways of Logic Pro 9.
Genesis (of course), Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Vaughan Williams, Wagner, IQ, The Orb, Muse, most 80s bands, etc. etc.
All subject to regular change!
